Around the Grounds - 21/09/24

All the results from around the grounds on the third weekend of the League season.

Premier Division

Hosts Fleet FC overcame Rayleigh 3-2 in a tight game, winning by the odd goal in five thanks to a brace from Lewis Stantiall and a strike from Ben Munday.

Harold Wood hosted Baddow Athetic and shared the same score line, however this time it was the visitors who came up trumps, the winner scored late on by Dean Murray.

Sandon Royals travelled to Stock United and returned with all three points and a clean sheet, emerging 3-0 victors thanks to goals from Ben Allen, James Nelson-Cole and Danny Radford.

United Chelmsford Churches got their first point on the board against Hutton FC at Writtle Sports Ground - the hosts’ Nicholas Butler cancelling out Tom Weston’s opener, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Division One

Broomfield continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 win against Hutton FC, goals from Daniel Haynes and Magic Speedie were enough to earn the home side their second win on the bounce.

Emerson & Upminster earned their first win of the season, seeing off Old Chelmsfordians 1-0 at Hall Lane Playing Fields - Robert McKnight scored the only goal of the game.

Seven goals were scored in the Great Baddow vs Brentwood Athletic game, and it was the visitors who returned to Brentwood with all three points, helped along the way by a hat-trick from substitute Corley Ross.

Mayland Village stay top of the table after a resounding 4-0 home win against Springfield, the goals scored by Andrew Cheek, Theo Clarke, David Dance, and Alfie Salter.

Witham Town travelled to Social Club Birchanger and saw out a narrow 3-2 victory thanks to goals from substitutes Samuel Peck and Alistair Stewart.

Division Two

Epping Town recorded the biggest win of the season in Division Two so far, beating Beaulieu Park 6-0 at Stonards Hill Recreation Ground, helped by a brace each from Jack Anderson and Albie Price.

Harold Hill hosted Shenfield Association and won 2-1, Tommy Harber and Bobby Lee scoring for the home side.

Benfleet U23 made it two wins from two with a 3-0 away victory against Rayleigh FC - Jack Doyle opening the scoring before Alfie Beadle came from the bench and grabbed a brace.

Eversley Athletic travelled to Sandon Royals and secured an impressive 4-0 victory, Cameron Cox and Mitchell Hudson scored one each and Harry Knock notched a brace.

Woodham Radars started strongly away at Springfield FC - Tom Dickson’s 4th-minute goal was enough to secure a 1-0 away win.

Division Three

AS Rawreth vs Harold Wood and Old Chelmsfordians vs Broomfield were both postponed, leaving four fixtures on the list in Division Three.

Emerson & Upminster met old friends in Scrattons FC, and the three points stayed at Hall Lane with the hosts running out 8-1 winners against a Scrattons side that ended the match with nine players after the referee dismissed two visiting players for second yellow card offences.

Rayleigh FC ran out 4-2 winners against South Cestos, the goals scored by Ashton Curtis, Oliver Girling, Benjamin Robinson and Jacob Robinson.

Tillingham Hotspur scored their first points of the season thanks to a 3-0 home win against Springfield FC thanks to two goals from George Etheridge and a third from George Rumbles.

Witham Town hosted Writtle FC and lost by the odd goal in seven - the visitors notching four through Aaron Donaldson, Henry East, Samuel Kerr and Myles Passley.
