Around the Grounds - 07/09/24

All the results from around the grounds on the first weekend of the League season.

Premier Division

A strong start to the season for Sandon Royals who defeated United Chelmsford Churches 9-1 on the road, with a Ben Allen hat-trick and an Anthony Warner brace helping them on their way.

Elsewhere, Fleet hosted Baddow Athletic and ran out 4-1 winners, and Harold Wood beat Haver Town 5-1 on the road.

Stock United hosted Hutton and the visitors emerged 1-0 winners with Zane Moody scoring the only goal of the game.


Division One

In an all-Chelmsford affair, goals from Edmond Asamoah and Thomas Dixon saw Great Baddow run out 2-0 winners away at Broomfield.

New team Social Club Birchanger travelled to Mayland Village and were defeated 2-1 courtesy of a brace from Mackenzie Fleet.

Emerson & Upminster’s clash with Brentwood Athletic was abandoned in the second half due to a serious injury, sustained through no fault of any player. Brentwood Athletic were winning 3-0 at the time.

In the early kick off, Witham Town played out a 1-1 draw with Hutton.

 

Division Two

Epping Town came close to a late comeback against Woodham Radars, but goals from Jack Anderson and Albie Price were ultimately not enough and Woodham ran out 4-3 winners.

A ding-dong battle at Henderson’s Sports Club saw Harold Hill beat Eversley Athletic, winning by the odd goal in nine.

Rayleigh FC saw off Shenfield Association 4-1, courtesy of a hat-trick from Callum King.

Sandon Reserves saw off local opposition in Springfield A - another high scoring game which ended 4-3 to the home side, goals from George Adams, Matthew Brolen, Jack Karmy and Martin Williams sealing the three points.

 

Division Three

A tough start to life in the Mid-Essex for new team Scrattons as they were beaten 6-1 by AS Rawreth on the road.

Emerson & Upminster fell 4-1 at home to Broomfield, a goal from Tom Tracey for the hosts providing some consolation.

Harold Wood and Rayleigh FC shared the spoils at Harold Wood Park, 1-1 the full time score.

South Cestos started their campaign with a win in the first game at Old Hall Farm, running out 2-1 victors against Writtle.

Elsewhere, Witham Town travelled to Springfield and returned with three points after winning 3-1.
